WORK BEGINS ON FUFULSO-DAMONGO-SAWLA ROAD



Work on the long awaiting Fufulso-Damongo-Sawla road in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region has begun.

The Contractors, China Waters and Electrical Corporation Ltd and China Harbor and Engineering Ltd have up to 36 months to complete the works.

Work on the road which started on 2nd January 2012 entails the construction of the 149 kilometer stretch of the Fufulso-Damongo-Sawal road joining the Wa-Kumasi road at Sawala.

The project estimated at One Hundred and Sixty-Six ($166m) Million Dollars will provide adequate drainage, culverts, walkways and public transport facilities such as bus stops and lay-bys.
The road is designed as a one-way lane and would be asphalt.

In an interview with the district chief executive Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, he disclosed that the construction of the road will involve the provision of other social amenities such as health centres, boreholes, schools, agro processing plants and lorry parks among others.
