ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW MEETING

An annual performance review meeting of the Ghana Health Service under the West Gonja District was held in Damongo.

The meeting was organised to review the performance of the directorate in 2010 and to plan for 2011.

The District Director of Health Dr. Kubio Crysantus in his speech outlined some successes and challengers of the sector.

He stated that the District has one hospital, four clinics, one poly clinic and five CHPS compounds.

He added that, there was an increase of the utilization of the in and out patient service with a per-capital income from 0.7 to 0.8.

Also, the increase of CHPS compound from two in 2009 to five by 2010 resulted in a reduction of mortality rate from106 per 100 live births in 2009 to 78 per 100 live births in 2010.

In addition, personnel have work hard to maintain Antenatal Care by 30% for the past three years. Again, the 80% sustenance of materinity rate gives 26%.

He also revealed that, the District recorded no guinea worm case.

He therefore congratulated the sub-sectors and the health volunteers for working hard to eradicate guinea worm in the district.

The director disclosed that three quality improvvement teams will be going to the Netherlands for further studies.

He stressed that, they are all working collectively as a team to increase the accessibility of health facility, managing the limited available health resource.
